If someone told us a year ago that a song about peanuts would go viral on social media, it would naturally be hard to believe. However, in the space of a single month, 2022 managed to achieve this unimaginable feat and how! Among the top social media trends and most viral songs this year is the song “Kacha Badam”. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know this addictive song that caught the attention of millions on Instagram. Popular influencers and dancers are now shaking a leg to the beat of this catchy song and racking up views by the minute. But how did the song Kacha Badam come about? What made him feel like he is today? Here’s everything you need to know.
As you can imagine, Kacha Badam’s song comes from the most unlikely sources. The song is the brainchild of Bhuban Badyakar, a peanut seller from West Bengal. He lives in Kuraljuri village in Lakshminarayanpur Panchayat of Birbhaum district. Badyakar travels to nearby villages and sells peanuts by weight in exchange for bracelets, trinkets and other valuables. The Kacha Badam song is her way of attracting new customers and letting them know she’s coming.
Kacha Badam’s song was first captured and shared on YouTube by a channel called “Ektara”. Badyakar’s humble melody has, in the space of 2 months, recorded more than 21 million views. Take a look at the original unedited Kacha Badam song here:

The rest, as they say, is history. The song about Kacha Badam or Peanuts has become the go-to jingle that has struck a chord with millions of Instagram users. Food bloggers create recipes for it, while choreographers share their own interpretations of dance to music. Bhuban Badyakar, meanwhile, appealed to the local police to help him get his due on the creation of the viral music. All is not lost, however, as reports suggest that Badyakar could make an appearance on a reality show with Sourav Ganguly.
