Story telling

Tales from the World of Niall de Búrca – online tales with Offaly Libraries

Take your place and hold on tight! Offaly Libraries features renowned storyteller Niall de Búrca at a special Zoom event as part of our Children’s Book Festival (CBF) program.

More dangerous than The Pied Piper, ‘Niall de Búrca’s World Tales’ will take you on a roller coaster ride of the imagination, as you join him for an incredible range of stories from around the world.

Raised in the West of Ireland, Niall has performed on six continents. Using his voice with the skill of an artisan, Niall shares great stories with exceptional energy, judgment and timing.

To quote the Vienna Review of Books: “His ability to evoke a wide range of emotions in his delighted audience allows him to captivate people with his stories and makes listening to and watching him an unforgettable experience.”

Niall’s motto is “Níor bhris focal maith fiacal riamh” (a good word never broke a tooth).

This is a family event for ages 6 and up, via Zoom on Wednesday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m. – booking is essential and children must be supervised by an adult during the event.

For details of event bookings and our full CBF programme, go to www.offaly.ie/libraries.

Offaly Libraries celebrates CBF with a series of events and activities, partly funded by Creative Ireland.

The festival aims to encourage children to enjoy the experience of reading and to support their reading development.

Ongoing are the Offaly Libraries Children’s Book Festival Costume Contest, Shocktober Coloring Contest, Crafty Takeaway: Craft in a Bag Projects (while supplies last) and a selection of story readings pre-recorded by library staff via our Facebook page.
