As part of the ‘Books to Friendship’ programme, a ‘Telling Stories’ competition was held among class II pupils of the pre-primary branch of DAV, Hazaribagh. In this competition, the young participants presented animated stories in a storytelling style drawn from many world famous books including Panchatantra, Akbar-Birbal, The Jungle Book and Life Skill.
At the start of the program, the head teacher of the junior branch, Pushpa Tiwari, welcomed the principal with a bouquet. On this occasion, the director of the school, Ashok Kumar, while encouraging the participants, advised them to read a short story a day. He said these stories will show you the way forward. Storytelling is a teaching method that develops self-confidence in children.
Sampa Srivastava, head of the pre-primary branch, said that stories are very important for the emotional development of young children and it is necessary to develop the habit of reading them from childhood. Rigyashu, Sanjana, Shaurya, Preyasi, Shreya, Anya, Arnav, Prajika, Piyush, Yuvraj, Pritish and Viraj gave wonderful performances in the program. At the end of the program, all participants received certificates.
